For the price of a Cessna 172 on floats (a quite old 172, on straight floats not amphibs) you can buy two brand new, professionally built, ready to fly Challengers with amphibious floats, skis and wheels plus every factory option. Not only that but the two Challengers will provide you with more payload, since on floats the 172 is at best limited to two occupants.

The amphibious floats alone on most General Aviation aircraft cost more than a brand new Challenger! And with a GA aircraft, once you get past the acquisition cost there's still endless expenses for insurance, gas, maintenance, overhaul, ad infinitum. With a Challenger, after the purchase people don't worry about cost at all, they just go flying whenever they choose.
