EDENVALE AERODROME - OPEN HOUSE - AUGUST 1, 2009

On August 1st we are holding hold our Third Annual Challenger Open House at Edenvale Aerodrome coincident with the Gathering Of The Classics organized by the Edenvale Classic Aircraft Foundation (ECAF).

Come and check out our Canadian Challenger Headquarters as well as over 200 classic aircraft and 90 vintage automobiles! The Harvards of the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association will be returning to Edenvale Aerodrome where they were used for advanced pilot training in World War II over 60 years ago!

All Challenger owners and fans are welcome. Come to our primary hangar which is Building D Unit 10. My office in the main building will not be manned. During the event call 705-721-9811 which will be forwarded to my cell phone.

We will be too busy hosting visitors to offer demo flights during the Open House. If you would like to arrange a flight in a Challenger with the larger 582 engine and amphibious floats just contact me for details and we'll set up a date.

If you fly your Challenger in then lunch for you and your passenger will be my treat! Food is will be available from 8:30 to 3:00. If you come by car the ECAF will charge a small admission fee but if you come by air admission is free. Let's see - free admission and free lunch - sure sounds like a great incentive to fly!

For flyers, Edenvale Aerodrome is CNV8 in the Canada Flight Supplement.
GPS coordinates are N44 26 28 W 079 57 46. Field elevation is 714 feet ASL.
Use left hand circuit patterns for all runways. There will be scads of airplanes so monitor 122.775 for airport and traffic advisories. Keep your eyes wide open!

We have two paved runways: 08/26  (dating from WW II) and 13/31 (opened in July 2009). Runway 08/26 is 2300 x 100 while 13/31 is 4000 x 100. Runway 26 has a 200 ft displaced threshold. The new runway 17/35 is grass 1900 x 80.

Click here for a diagram which includes the new runways and hangars.

Note that the only taxi route from 13/31 to the parking areas is via taxiway D which is roughly at the midpoint of 13/31. Aim to touchdown short enough to turn off on taxiway D so that you don't have to back taxi on the runway.

After you land follow the direction of the marshallers. Challengers will be directed to park between Building D and Building E. Birds of a feather ...

For drivers, maps and directions are on our web site in the contact section.

If you have any questions let me know. Hope to see lots of you here!
